Shearing course - shearing llama & alpaca in a gentle way
In obrt 20 years of breeding llamas and alpacas we acquired great experience in shearing camelids. We therefore decided to organise a course on this particular subject. Our aim is a quick, painless, stress free shearing operation, both for the animal as well as for the human who does the operation.

Llamas are shorn standing. We can shear only the belly part or if necessary, the whole body of the aninal.
- Alpacas are laid on a table. They are held in position by three persons. The position is natural, the animals are not stretched or bent in any way. No tying of the limbs is involved.
Content of the course:

Everything about a good tondeuse (shearing knife)

Preparation of the spot we plan to shear and of the animal

the actual activity of shearing

the division of the several fleece parts (dependent on what they can be used for)

tips for the further work of the fleece
